THE
EMERGENT ROLE OF WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP FOR A BETTER WORLD
AN INVITATION:
We invite you to join us May
16 and 17 to explore "The Emergent Role of Women in Leadership for a
Better World." We will
self-organize around what is most meaningful to each of us, creating an
environment that is completely open to whatever emerges.
We seem to have become
accustomed to a distinction between what we know about women and the visible
role that women so often play in our culture.
We know that women are wise,
original, dynamic and at work on something more sweeping than we can fully
grasp. And we see that women are
conspicuously absent or underrepresented in high places in our culture: in
boardrooms, CEO's offices, the inner circle of most religions, the highest
political offices.
Women seem to be engaged in
work different from that done in "high places." Much of our work has meant creating
different sorts of systems, inventing other ways to get things done, creating
new ways to lead. We find women in
record numbers starting businesses, nonprofit initiatives, alternative schools,
etc -- not excluding men, but sharing leadership in new ways.
We think its high time
to pay attention to what is emerging in our culture through women's
efforts. We are convening this Open
Space event for that purpose.
